11) Can we practice yoga on bed?
Yoga should be practiced on a blanket or yoga mat on an even surface. However, in case of physical limitations, one can practice a few poses on an even surfaced bed.
12) Which should be performed first - yoga or pranayama?
Commence your yoga session with yoga poses, follow it with Rest Pose and then proceed to pranayama.
13) Practicing yoga causes soreness in certain parts of the body including lower abdomen, thighs, hips and low back. Should we still practice yoga the following day?
It is quite natural for beginners to experience soreness in certain parts of the body. Backbends, side bends, lifting the legs in lying positions are not something one does on a regular non-yoga day. Hence, t is quite natural for a beginner to feel pain on these areas. With regular practice, the pain will be gone. Hence, unless you experience severe pain or severe discomfort, it is highly recommended to perform yoga the next day.
14) Is it fine to perform pranayama during menstruation?
Certain types of prayanama can be performed during menstrual cycle. However, it is not recommended to perform breathing techniques that involve holding the breath inside or out. It is also not recommended to perform forceful breathing as one would do in kapalabhati.
15) Can we do yoga while fasting?
Definitely yes. You can practice yoga on days of fasting just as you would do any other work. It is recommended to practice yoga an hour before breaking fast. It is also recommended to perform mild poses.
16) Can nursing women practice yoga?
Certain yoga poses stimulate breastmilk production. Hence, it is recommended that breastfeeding women practice yoga.
17) Can we do yoga while having a cold?
Perform poses that do not strain you while having a cold. You can perform standing poses and Rest Pose.
18) Is it advisable to practice yoga if we are planning to have a child?
Practicing yoga improves your chances of getting pregnant. And hence, those who are planning to have a child can benefit a lot from practicing yoga.
