Ever since I started cooking with OPOS thanks to my niece's super strong recommendation, normal cooking has become an infrequent affair. However, all that I describe here are done using normal method. OPOS has also minimized usage of frying pans among other vessels. Still, I had to replace a broken mud vessel of mine and hence browsed the net and was inspired by this. I am yet to make a final call.
I was also super impressed seeing this beautiful collection of miniature mud vessels which can be used as toys by children or can be used as decorative pieces at home.
Instructions
- Thoroughly rinse little millet in water.
- Dry roast little millet till its aroma fills the air.
- Transfer the content to another vessel and soak little millet for about 15 minutes.
- Add required ghee in the frying pan and after the ghee / oil turns hot, add tempering ingredients to it.
- Add sliced onions and saute till onions turn brown.
- Add sliced tomatoes and saute.
- Add all other veggies except capsicum. Add turmeric powder and saute.
- After the veggies are half-cooked add capsicum, water and salt.
- When the water starts boiling add soaked little millet without water.
- After the water is absorbed, close with a lid, simmer and cook for a few more minutes.
- Check if the little millet kitchadi is cooked, add some coriander leaves and turn off the stove.
- You can add lemon juice if required.
Note
You can adjust the quantity of water based on your preference for texture.
If you are adding dry green peas, cook them first before adding to little millet kitchadi.
