Yoga Pose for Day 33 – Auspicious Pose / Gracious Pose (Bhadrasana)

‘Bhadra’ in Sanskrit means ‘auspicious’ and ‘gracious’. Hence, Bhadrasana is called Auspicious Pose or Gracious Pose.

Auspicious Pose stimulates Root Chakra, which is the base for the health of all chakras, and promotes creativity. It brings out hidden skills. It strengthens kidneys and uterus. The pose supports in promoting reproduction. It cures menstrual disorders and stimulates production of semen and hence it is considered a merciful pose.

Instructions
  • Sit down on the mat.
  • Fold your legs and place the feet against each other.
  • Hold the toes with your hands. With exhalation bend forward and place your forehead on the floor in front of your feet.
  • Stretch your hands in front of you on the floor and place your palms together.
  • Hold the pose for 30 seconds.
Note

Pregnant women should not attempt to place their forehead on the floor. They need to just hold the toes and sit.

Those with severe spine conditions and knee pain should refrain from practicing the pose.
