When I uploaded the post 'On Road Times', little did I realize that it will be followed only by Places to Visit in Chennai and nothing more for the next year or so. We had been to a few tourist destinations during this period but I am yet to create posts on them. Recently we had taken our pet member Chezhi to Yelagiri, a hill station we had visited eleven years ago. Naturally, I felt compelled to write about Yelagiri tourist destinations while it is still fresh in my memory. And what more could be the right time other than this scorching summer when people look for holiday destinations? Read on to know about the important tourist destinations in Yelagiri.

Top Tourist Destinations in Yelagiri, Tamilnadu
1) Swamimalai
Swamimalai, the highest point of Yelagiri, is not only loved by moutain climbers but also by all who appreciate the immense beauty of nature. Since the climb to the top is not challenging, kids accompanied by adults can climb the mountain. Trek up the mountain through mud path and stairs and you will reach the top in an hour's time.

Well, we still had to do a climb...a steep rock and that is the highest point of Yelagiri.

Nice to know that we had a better way up the rock.
On climbing the ladder we found a fenced space.

2) Yelagiri Lake / Punganoor Lake
Also called Punganoor Lake, Yelagiri Lake is one of the most popular man-made lakes in Tamilnadu. Motor boat and pedal boat rides are available here.
Being surrounded by hills and trees, Yelagiri Lake boat rides offer feast to the eyes. Chezhi loved walking along the walker's path around the lake as she never ran out of things to sniff around.
It took some efforts for us to get her back to our Yelagiri pet friendly homestay.

3) Cloud Forest

1) Bamboo Walk: Rocks in this area are positioned in such a way to create a bamboo bridge over it stretching for 100 feet. Walking on the bridge would be fun as the shake it gives can be a bit of challenge.
2) Slope Walk: An area of 1/2 acre slope would serve as a good exercise session as walking on this slope would give you a trek feel. With bamboo and other trees all over this slope, you are sure to feel like walking in thick forest.
Treetop View Point: This is yet another unique feature offered by Cloud Forest in Yelagiri.
Branches of three trees of 30 feet height are connected with iron bridge and a bamboo balcony stands on the third treetop. Treetop balcony offers stunning views.

The second additional feature is that none of the staff of Cloud Forest would be around to supervise visitors except cleaning staff. This is a perfect destination that makes visitors feel free and comfortable and hence absolutely visitor-friendly destination in Yelagiri.
The third additional feature is that you are free to bring outside food into Cloud Forest and settle down at any comfortable place to have your food.
The parking space in Cloud Forest can accommodate around 30 to 40 cars. Hence, your car remains in a safe place while you have a great time inside the park with your family.
Last but not the least, you can bring your pet member to Cloud Forest Entertainment Park. The only condition is that you should have her on leash and in case any damage of any type is caused by your pet, you will have to bear the expenses.
Cloud Forest functions from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm during weekdays and from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm during weekends.

4) Yelagiri Nature Park
For some, traveling to a destination gets complete only when all major tourist attractions of the particular tourist spot is visited.
