Given below are 6 most effective mudras for indigestion:

1. Apana Mudra

Instructions

  • Assume Lotus Pose or Thunderbolt Pose.
  • Stretch the fingers of both hands.
  • Bend your thumb and bring the tips of thumb, middle finger and ring finger together.
  • Keep the index finger and little finger stretched. 
  • Hold Apana Mudra for 15 minutes. 

2) Prithvi Mudra

Instructions

  • Assume Lotus Pose, Thunderbolt Pose or Easy Pose.
  • Bring the tips of ring finger and thumb together.
  • Keep the remaining fingers stretched.
  • Perform the mudra in both hands.
  • Perform the mudra for 30 to 45 minutes.

3) Suriya Mudra

Instructions

  • Assume Lotus Pose or Thunderbolt Pose.
  • Stretch your fingers.
  • Bend your ring finger and place the tip of the ring finger under your thumb.
  • Bend your thumb and place it on the folded ring finger applying very light pressure.
  • Keep the remaining fingers stretched.
  • Focus on your mudra. Maintain normal breathing.
Note

Those with fever and experiencing excessive tiredness should refrain from practicing suriya mudra. It is also not recommended to practice suriya mudra during peak summer.

4) Linga Mudra

Instructions

  • Assume Lotus Pose, Thunderbolt Pose or Easy Pose. 
  • Bring the palms close to your chest and place them against each other as in salutation pose. Interlock the fingers of both hands. 
  • Lift the thumb of left hand and encircle it with the thumb and index finger of right hand. 
  • Close your eyes and place your focus on mudra. 
  • Hold the mudra for 30 minutes. 

5) Surabhi Mudra

Instructions

  • Place your palms together.
  • Bring the tips of left hand's little finger and right hand's ring finger together.
  • Now, bring the tips of right hand's little finger and left hand's ring finger together.
  • Bring the tips of left hand's middle finger and right hand's index finger together.
  • With thumbs away from each other, bring the tips of right hand's middle finger and left hand's index finger together.

Practicing Surabhi Mudra during sunrise or sunset for 15 to 45 minutes maximizes the benefits.

6) Pushan Mudra

Unlike other mudras, Pushan Mudra involves practicing Vyan Mudra and Apana Mudra in two hands simultaneously.

Instructions

  • Assume Vyan Mudra in your right hand. To perform Vyan Mudra, you need to bring the tips of index finger, middle finger and thumb together.
  • Assume Apana Mudra in your left hand. To perform Apana Mudra, you need to bring the tips of middle finger, ring finger and thumb together. 
  • Perform these two mudras as mentioned above to assume Pushan Mudra.

Pushan Mudra should be practiced for 20 minutes a day. Practicing the mudra after meals improves digestion.
